DECA - Danube Energy Communities Accelerator
DECA Project, funded through the Interreg Programme for the Danube Region aims to test how citizen-led renewable energy actions can be accelerated across the Danube Region. Currently, available renewable energy resources in the region are underutilized, and citizen-owned energy systems are recognized as a key driver of a just energy transition towards renewables, representing an innovative and important way for communities to respond to current energy, climate, and economic challenges.
The DECA project will address common challenges of energy communities, capacity development, support local community energy actions, and national and regional cooperation, through jointly developed solutions, pilots, and a strategy for accelerating community energy across the region.
These solutions will be tested through piloting in 9 countries of the Danube program area: Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Romania, and Serbia.
PET, will, through its partnership with CORE, support a pilot solution in Niš, Serbia.
The Project will kick-off at partners meeting in Ptuj (Slovenia) on February 21 and 22, 2024.
